JOB DESCRIPTION: The Working Shop Foreman will oversee and participate in the overall management of service support for all customers, the companies' profitability and growth. Interact with customers and company team members to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction and efficiencies.
Treat customers and team members with courtesy and respect. Greet all customers and vendors that enter the shop area. Discuss with customers estimated cost of repairs/maintenance work that is to be provided and estimated time when truck will be completed. Advise customers of preventative maintenance or additional repairs that are needed. Secure agreement from customer on the repairs to be performed before any work started.
Write legible and complete repair orders by asking good diagnostic questions to identify customer needs/concerns and record the information accurately.
Train and mentor technicians in the shop to maximize efficiency and quality. Participate in hiring process including the search of new technicians.
Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair vehicles in a timely and professional manner. Accounting for your time with billable hours at a 40% rate or proximately 67 hours a month.
Work with Service Writer to continually follow up on status of repairs to assure that trucks will be ready when promised and advise any delays if truck will not be finished when promised. Get authorization from Service Writer when estimate of costs needs to be changed.
Keep management informed of all problems and potential problems involving repairs, customers, team members and equipment.
Work with team to establish and or maintain policies and procedures that keep the work flow at highest efficiency level to maximize customer service and profits. This includes scheduling, and timely filing of all repair orders.
Use quality control procedures designed to monitor quality of work and take corrective action where standards are not met. Provide assistance, information, and direction to company team members to correct technical concerns and improve efficiency.
Maintain special tools in ways that are convenient to team members needing them.
Respond to customer inquiries on status of repairs and see that trucks are returned promptly to customers. Schedule personnel to maximize shop and stall efficiencies.
Work with team to reduce conflict and maximize profitability. Prepare for and participate in meetings with team and owners.
Maintain facilities in an attractive, appropriate and safe manner. Follow all employment, safety, and environmental regulations as required by any city, county, state or federal governing body.
Maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition. Establish equipment maintenance schedules as needed.
